About the Designer
My name is Stephen Dowse and I am an architect and designer whose work blends creativity with technical precision. With a strong foundation in architectural practice and design thinking, I bring a versatile perspective to projects, bridging the gap between conceptual vision and practical execution. Based in Greenville, SC, I design solutions that are both locally grounded and globally inspired.
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Interior, Architecture, and Design, and plan to further my education with a Master’s in Architecture at Clemson University. My work is driven by a passion for architecture and a disciplined work ethic. I designs first and foremost for the experience of those who will use and live in the space, while placing strong value on sustainable design practices. My inspiration comes from culture, history, and nature — particularly in how light, natural movement, and the ways these elements shape the experiences in built environments.
Technically, I am highly proficient in CAD and SketchUp, experienced in the Adobe Suite and model making, and actively advancing my skills in Revit and Enscape. I specialize in visualization and conceptual design while maintaining strong expertise in drafting. I also bring a range of unique skills, including furniture design, hand sketching of floor plans and concepts from a young age, nearly 11 years of woodworking experience taught by a professional carpenter, and extensive research in sustainable and historical architectural methods. I am highly adaptable to projects of any scale, approaching challenges with a mindset focused on solutions, learning, and growth rather than limitations.
